Ask OLake — embed demo
This page exists to prove one thing: the assistant drops into a real documentation site with a single script tag, inherits its theme, and does not touch a single one of its styles.
Hit the Ask OLake button, bottom right. Try the theme toggle
while the panel is open — it follows the host page.
Embedding it
One tag at the end of the docs template. No build step, no framework, no CSS to import:
<script src="https://YOUR-HOST/widget.js" data-ask-olake></script>
Optional attributes:
data-api— point the widget at a different API origin (defaults to the script's own origin)data-label— button text, defaults toAsk OLakedata-position—right(default) orleft
Why it's safe to drop in
Shadow DOM
Styles are fully isolated in both directions. Nothing leaks either way.
Zero dependencies
One file, no bundle, no framework on the host page.
Theme-aware
Reads Docusaurus's data-theme, falls back to prefers-color-scheme.
Keyboard & a11y
Focus management, Esc to close, live region for answers, reduced-motion honoured.
Calling the API directly
The widget is a convenience. The contract is the endpoint:
curl -s https://YOUR-HOST/ask \
-H 'content-type: application/json' \
-d '{"question":"Which Iceberg catalogs does OLake support?"}'
{
"answer": "OLake supports … [1][2]",
"sources": ["https://olake.io/docs/...", "https://olake.io/docs/..."]
}
